The Region I-AAAA regular season championship game between Greenwood and Laurens came down to defense and field position Friday night at J.W. Babb Stadium. Both teams’ high scoring offenses were grounded by fast, hard-hitting defenses that wouldn’t yield a yard without a fight. In the end, it was Greenwood’s dominant defense that shut-out the Raiders 16-0, and clinched the 2008 Region I-AAAA regular season championship. The win marked Greenwood’s third consecutive region title and their 10th in the last 11 years.
